After the celebration: a wedding weekend recovery plan in an Istanbul hotel

5 min read

An Istanbul wedding rarely lasts one evening. There is the welcome dinner on the Bosphorus, the henna night, the ceremony itself and a long final brunch, often with guests who have flown in from three continents. By Sunday, even the most composed families are running on little sleep and a great deal of good food. Here is how Bosphorus Drip fits into a celebration weekend in a five-star hotel, and where it does not.

Before the big day: timing is everything

For the couple and close family, the most useful moment for a drip is usually one or two days before the event, not the morning of it. A Glow drip with glutathione, or an Energy Boost with B vitamins and fluids, may help you feel more rested and look less tired after weeks of planning and a long-haul flight. Many guests find that the effect on how they feel is most noticeable after a full night of sleep.

On the wedding day itself, the hours are already tight: hair, make-up, photographs, family arriving in waves. If you would still like a drip that morning, book it early and allow at least an hour with no other appointments. The nurse can set up in a quiet corner of the suite while the rest of the room carries on.

The morning after

The day after a wedding is when most of our calls come in. Late dancing, a few glasses of rakı or champagne, rich food and very little water add up. Our Hangover Rescue drip combines fluids, electrolytes and vitamins and may help with headache, dryness and the heavy feeling that keeps you in bed. If nausea is the main problem, the anti-nausea add-on (€30) can be included, subject to the doctor’s approval.

Book on WhatsApp, answer a short health questionnaire, and a doctor reviews it before anything is confirmed. In central districts the nurse usually arrives in about an hour and stays for the full 45 minutes. If you call between midnight and seven in the morning, a night visit fee of €60 applies.

Several guests in one suite

Bridesmaids, groomsmen and cousins often want to recover together. That works well, as long as each person is assessed on their own. Every guest fills in their own questionnaire, the doctor reviews each one separately, and we send more than one nurse so that nobody waits for a free pair of hands.

For two or three people, prices are simply per person, with the visit included anywhere in Istanbul. For larger wedding parties, or if you would like us on call across the whole weekend, write to us with the dates, the hotel and the approximate number of guests, and we will price it on request.

A discreet arrival

Weddings are public; recovery is not. Our nurses come in plain clothes through the guest entrance, with a compact bag rather than medical equipment on show. There is no branded car and no need to explain anything at reception beyond the name of the guest expecting a visitor.

Inside the suite, the nurse checks blood pressure, pulse and oxygen before starting, opens sealed single-use ingredients in front of you, and stays until the drip is finished. An emergency kit comes on every visit, and the doctor can be reached throughout.

What helps as much as the drip

A drip is a support, not a replacement for the basics. These small habits make a real difference across a long celebration weekend:

  • Drink a glass of water between every alcoholic drink, and keep a bottle by the bed.
  • Eat a proper meal before the evening starts, not only canapés.
  • Protect at least one full night of sleep in the days before the event.
  • Do not treat the drip as permission for another round: more alcohol afterwards undoes much of the benefit.
  • Rest for an hour after the infusion before the brunch or the airport.

When a drip is not a good idea

IV therapy is a wellness service, not emergency care. We will not start a drip for anyone who is still heavily intoxicated, confused or unable to give clear consent; in that case, sleep and supervision come first. The same applies to guests under 18, those who are pregnant or breastfeeding without their own doctor’s approval, and anyone with heart failure, serious heart disease, kidney disease or a known allergy to an ingredient.

Chest pain, difficulty breathing, fainting or repeated vomiting are reasons to call 112, not to book a drip. If the doctor declines a booking, there is no charge.

Questions

How many days before the wedding should the couple have a drip?

One or two days before usually works best. It leaves time for a full night of sleep and keeps the wedding morning free for preparations.

Can several guests have a drip at the same time in one suite?

Yes. Each guest is reviewed by the doctor separately, and we send enough nurses for everyone. Large wedding parties are priced on request.

Will hotel staff know why the nurse is visiting?

No. The nurse arrives in plain clothes through the guest entrance and only gives the name of the guest who booked.

Can I have a drink after the hangover drip?

It is better not to. More alcohol soon after the infusion cancels much of its effect. Water, food and sleep are the best follow-up.
