How does a visit in Galataport work?
A day in port goes quickly. If you are staying near the cruise terminal before or after your voyage, the nurse comes to your room.
Galataport is Istanbul’s cruise port, a long waterfront between Karaköy and Tophane. The cruise terminal itself is underground, so the quay above is an open promenade with shops, cafés, the new Istanbul Modern building and the old Tophane Clock Tower. Ships moor right alongside, and hotels and serviced flats in Karaköy and Tophane are only a short walk from the gangway.
Boarding a cruise ship depends on the ship’s and port’s rules and is usually not possible, so we normally meet guests at a hotel or apartment nearby. The usual plan is simple: you stay a night in Istanbul before boarding or after you disembark, or you take a room near the port for your day ashore, and the nurse meets you there. Send us your ship’s arrival and departure times when you book, and allow about an hour for the drip itself plus the nurse’s arrival, so you are back on board well before all-aboard time.

Questions
What do guests ask about Galataport?
Can the nurse come on board my cruise ship?
Boarding a cruise ship depends on the ship’s and port’s rules and is usually not possible, so we normally meet guests at a hotel or apartment nearby.
My ship is in port for one day. Is there time for a drip?
Often, yes. A nurse usually arrives 40–60 minutes after doctor approval, and most drips take 45–60 minutes. Book early in the day and tell us when you must be back on board.
I feel very unwell after the sea journey. Should I book a drip?
If you have chest pain, trouble breathing, a high fever or you have fainted, go to a hospital or call 112. A drip is not a replacement for emergency care.
