IV therapy in Kandilli and Vaniköy, on the quiet Asian shore

Old yalı mansions at the water’s edge, a hill with an observatory and very little traffic. A calm place to rest with a drip.

Kandilli and Vaniköy are on the Asian shore of the Bosphorus, between Çengelköy and Anadoluhisarı. Vaniköy has a row of old wooden yalı mansions on the water, many of them family homes. Behind Kandilli pier, the streets climb a steep green hill to the Kandilli Observatory, and further north the stone towers of Anadoluhisarı stand by the Göksu stream. It is one of the quietest parts of the city.

Families stay in a yalı here for the summer or visit relatives, and may write when someone is tired after a flight, run down, or dehydrated on a hot day. From the European side, the nurse usually crosses the Fatih Sultan Mehmet Bridge and comes down to the shore. The shore road is narrow, with few places to park, so the nurse may walk the last part.
