Yeniköy sits between İstinye and Tarabya on the European shore. Köybaşı Avenue runs right along the water, lined with historic wooden and stone yalı mansions, and behind it are narrow streets with old churches, stone houses and small gardens. It is not a hotel district. People here live in family homes, rent a yalı for the summer, or come to stay with relatives for a few weeks.

Visits here are to private houses: a parent who is tired after a long flight, a family gathering that went on late, or guests getting ready for a wedding weekend. Yalı mansions usually have a gate on Köybaşı Avenue and their main rooms facing the water, so tell us which entrance staff will open. It is a long drive up the shore road from the centre, and traffic can be slow on summer evenings, so please write a little ahead if the time matters.
